Control Switcher help!
Control Switcher help!
Am I correct in thinking that (2) two control switchers can ultimately be the (8) Instant Access switches on a single GCX(1) setting on the Ground Control Pro? I swear I remember a tech support guy at Voodoo Lab tellin me that. Hopefully . I’d hate to use (2) two GCX options on the Ground Control for only 4 switches a piece. I’d just call em but, well, Cali seems to be run by *.
Re: Control Switcher help!
No problem to control two Control Switchers as a single GCX. The basic steps from factory fresh are as follows...
1. Set both Control Switchers to receive on MIDI Channel 16.
2. Set both Control Switchers to Enable Control Change messages.
3. On Control Switcher #1, set to respond to Control Change messages 80-83 (GCX Loops 1-4)
4. On Control Switcher #2, set to respond to Control Change messages 84-88 (GCX Loops 5-8)
There are two different models of Control Switcher one with Black Buttons and one with Red Buttons. The settings are slightly different for each model so be sure to follow the appropriate manual.
I hope that helps!

Re: Control Switcher help!
Ok. Think I got it. I have the red button models. Now going about it this route, does it take up one of the (4) available GCX slots or one of the (8) other devices available?? Ground Control Pro of course. Appreciate the response
Re: Control Switcher help!
When mimicking a GCX, this will take one of the four available GCX locations in the Ground Control Pro.
Here is a link to the red button Control Switcher Manual... Control Switcher v2 (Red Buttons)

Re: Control Switcher help!
Ok. So that part worked. Perty slick. Now my GCX3 is now 2 and my GCX2 no workie
Re: Control Switcher help!
Actually I think I just now figured it out. Maybe. My control switcher was GCX1. I’m gonna assume it’s not now??
Re: Control Switcher help!
Actually, that doesn’t make sense. I don’t know what happened
Re: Control Switcher help!
Ok. I’m lost again. Apologies. I re-routed some MIDI cables to see if I could figure out what is going on. GCX1 is now a HEX. Was the control switchers. GCX1 worked before and still works now. Out of HEX into 1st control switcher then out to 2nd control switcher. Should be GCX2 correct? Now GCX2 is controlling the PX-8 which is the next Voodoo Lab piece downstream. Which was and should be GCX3 yes?? GCX3 and GCX4 don’t control anything (which I don’t have a GCX4 yet) and neither control switcher works. Lost
Re: Control Switcher help!
Ahh the plot thickens! I thought you had only the two Control Switchers going here.
Lets start fresh... First, what are all the Voodoo Lab / Digital Music Corp. controllers and Switcher that will be in this rig?
Also, what will be your preferred MIDI Cable connection path?
So far I believe you have the connections as Ground Control Pro -> HEX -> PX-8 -> Control Switcher#1 -> Control Switcher #2... the order they are connected will affect how they respond.
Note: The switchers all need to be powered up when the Ground Control Pro starts up so everything gets the configuration message sent from the Ground Control Pro after it scrolls thru the initial splash screen.

Re: Control Switcher help!
Ahhh... didn’t realize it was so in depth. Alright buckle up: Ground Control Pro to Diezel Herbert first, (Herbert Powers GCP) Herbert out to Beat Buddy Thru( All Beat Buddy is doing is sending Time Click through system) Beat Buddy out/thru to TC Ditto x4. Out of the Ditto x4 into Sound Sculpture Abyss(A/B/Y switch) out of the Abyss to 1st Control switcher then out to 2nd Control switcher (was the original routing when I first messaged). From 2nd Control switcher to Hex. Out of HEX to One Control loop switcher, our of Loop Switcher to Boss DD-500, from DD-500 to Kahayan 8x4 amp/cab switcher. From Kahayan to PX-8, from PX-8 to Source Audio Collider pedal. From Collider to Diamond/RJM amp switcher. From Diamond/RJM to Source Audio EQ.
I know that’s a bit. Ben in your Tech department has helped me with this system tremendously. As of now the only thing I’m not figuring out is this whole dual Control Switcher issue. Also I have another HEX on backorder for my GCX4 slot. Which unfortunately is waiting for good ol California to open back up. Apparently the HEX has to come right from Voodoo Lab. So yeah.
