Ground Control Pro -> PX-8+ No CC# MSGs

Hi,

I've been using my Ground Control Pro (v 1.14) with my PX-8+. I really like this combo since I can have 10 Presets on the GCP and individual loops on the PX-8+. I'm controlling or would like to control the following pedals via MIDI with the GCP Presets:

Eventide H9 (MIDI Channel 2)
Boss DD-500 (MIDI Channel 3)
Jackson Audio Golden Boy (MIDI Channel 4)

I can switch presets on the H9 and DD-500 which are responding to PC messages with very little problem. What I can not seem to do is send CC# to the DD-500 and the Golden Boy(which requires cc#). I've assigned instant access buttons with the correct channel and CC# for example CC#82 to enable/bypass the DD-500 Button 1 and set them to Transmit with Preset. When I switch the GCP to 4 PRST/BANK I see the IA switches engaged with the preset but no action on the pedals.

It appears to me that the CC messages aren't making it to the pedals. Could the PX-8+ be filtering the CC Msg's out of or have I done something else wrong?

This part should be easy enough to test. What happens if you simplify the MIDI path to be just the Ground Control Pro MIDI Out directly to the MIDI In of one of the pedals you have set up to be controlled? Try each pedal connected this way one at a time to ensure the programming is sound, then start adding one pedal at a time to the MIDI chain to find when things start going wrong.
If you do find something is killing the messages, than the simple fix to at least get you down the road would be to place that device last in the MIDI path.

Oh and to answer the question... No, the PX-8+ should not be filtering out these messages.

Thanks for your reply. I went back through and test everything and it appears I had two issues.

1. A bad MIDI cable.
2. With the cable issue resolved I could get basic CC msg results on the H9 and Golden Boy and some on the DD-500. However, some of the things like pedal bypass on the DD-500 still aren't working regardless of signal routing.

This makes me wonder if they might require a CC# value that is not transmitted by the GCP. Is there any way to upgrade the GCP to allow you to select a CC# value? It would really expand its capability.

Glad it seems to be working now... well mostly working at least.

Looking at the DD-500 manual I don't see the default CC for Effect On/Off listed. Under MIDI in the Parameter List section it does look like this is programmable within the DD-500. What do you have the MIDI Receive Channel set as and what Control Change is assigned to Effect On/Off?
