Marshall JCM2000 dsl channel switching using gcx

Post by ndixon27 »

Hi there

Been looking for an answer to this online to no avail.

Can I use the gcx to change channel on my jcm2000?

So I have jcm2000 going into 2x12 with v30s. I also have some rack mount preamps /fx units that I would like to utilize and I can see from the templates on the website how to do it and integrate with my ground control pro.

Just wondering can I use one or more of the loops to change channel.

Thanks

Yes you can!

You would only need a standard 1/4' instrument cable or speaker cable connected between the Out/N.O. jack on and unused GCX Loop and the Channel Footswitch jack on your DSL2000.
If you also want to control Reverb you will need a second cable and a second unused GCX Loop with the Out/N.O. Jack connected the the Reverb Footswitch jack on the amp.

I hope that helps!

Thanks John you are a saint !

The guys on Marshall forum told me there would be voltage on the line and that a slow burn could ensue, I thought it was bs anyway lol

In the interim I tried using the relay switch on my gmajor 2 to see if it would switch the channels and hey presto it did so, I didn’t want to damage my gcx/gcp so I said I would wait til I heard back from a reliable source at voodoo lab.

Tc manual say relays normally work off either split cable or stereo to stereo. I used normal guitar lead and it seemed fine, presume that is ok to and won’t harm anything?
