So, I read the other post about how I can have the GCP send different Instant Access button on/off states on a per-preset basis.
But, can I program the Instant Access buttons to transmit different CC values for different presets?
Instant Access Mode: Can I assign different CCs per preset?

The Instant Access button assignments are global. What are you trying to control?

Re: Instant Access Mode: Can I assign different CCs per preset?
Thanks John,
I am sending PC changes to a Line6 Spider Valve and M13 to select presets on the Spider Valve and M13 simultaneously, but I also want to use the Instant Access mode in order to initialize on/off values for the effects on the M13 when I change presets on the GCP.
Each of the M13's presets is made up of 3 banks of 4 effects. With the Instant Access mode, there are 8 assignable buttons, so I can access 8 of the 12 available CC values for each preset, but I can't get to the other 4. I was just thinking that if the CC values were programmable on a per-preset basis, then I could assign different CC values to transmit for different presets, and thus I would be able to turn on/off all available slots in the M13.
Thanks,
Rick

With this setup any of the effects in the M13 are part of a preset patch so there is no need to be able to send a Control Change message with a Ground Control Pro preset to enable chorus for instance, because the Program Change sent with the preset already recalled a patch (I believe Line6 calls this a scene) with chorus enabled.

Re: Instant Access Mode: Can I assign different CCs per preset?
The problem is that I am using an M13 preset ("Scene") for multiple songs - since I don't need 12 effects for a song. Each Scene on the M13 calls up 12 effects, arranged in 3 banks of 4. Only 4 effects of the 12 can be active at any time.
So, let's say I'm on Scene 1. I might use the bank A buttons for one song, the bank B for another and bank C for a third, all within that one Scene. On the GCP, these would be 3 different presets. I want to have the banks and effects initialized differently for different GCP presets. So for preset 1 on the GCP, I want it to call up Scene 1 on the M13, and initialize the effects in bank A to a certain state. When I select preset 2 on the GCP, I want it to also call up Scene 1 on the M13, but I want it to initialize the effects in bank B. This much I can do, because I have 8 buttons on the GCP and 8 buttons on the M13 for these two banks. I can have the GCP send MIDI CC to the M13 to initialize the effects at the same time it sends the PC to select Scene 1.
But, if I select preset 3 on the GCP and want it to call up Scene 1, and initialize the effects in bank C, I wouldn't be able to do this unless I could change the CC assignments on a per-preset basis such that the M13 could now send the CC values that correspond to the buttons in bank C of the M13.
Ideally, what I would really like is if the GCP could be programmed to send MIDI CC even when it is in 10 presets/bank mode.....I don't necessarily need to turn M13 effects on/off in real time using the GCP - I still use the M13 buttons for this - what I am really after is being able to initialize the effects on the M13 to a certain state when I change presets. If I could do this in 10 presets/bank mode without having to be in Instant Access mode, that would actually be even better.
Thanks again!

Re: Instant Access Mode: Can I assign different CCs per preset?
Hey there, Alien.
Try this way of looking at it, mate: Consider how a GCX unit works with the GCPro.. You plug 8 different FX Pedals into the GCX, and the GCPro tells it which of the 8 different FX Pedals are active/bypassed by sending up to 8 different CC messages to it.
Now, lets say your M13 has 8 different FX in it. If you were to treat the M13 like a GCX, by setting the M13 to respond to Midi Channel 16, you'll be halfway there.
Enable one of the unused GCX devices (1 to 4) in the GCPro. These GCX devices are automatically set to Midi Channel 16. This GCX device (1 to 4) is now the name (and number) by which the GCPro will recognise the M13.
You'll be able to transmit *8 different CC's to the M13 when you load a new preset on your GCPro (*the 8 CC numbers are predetermined by which number (1 to 4) GCX device you activate).
I cant recall which CC's will be transmit, but for example, if the GCX device you've activated transmits CC's 80 to 88, then set the FX in your M13 to respond to CC numbers 80 to 88 (and as i mentioned MAKE SURE the M13 is responding to Midi Channel 16!)
If you want to control more than 8 different FX in your M13, simply activate another unused GCX device in the GCPro and set the additional M13 FX to respond to those CC numbers too!! (the second GCX device is still operating on Midi Channel 16, it's just using a different group of CC numbers, which once again are predetermined by which number (1 to 4) GCX device it is..)
I'm sorry I can't tell you what CC's the GCX devices in your GCPro will transmit, but I'm sure that with a little digging you'll find out on this forum - it's by far THE MOST helpful user community I've ever seen!
Now, when you want to create a preset on the GCP, scroll to the GCX device/s you've enabled and click on/off whatever effects (GCPro buttons 1 to 8) you want in the M13 and there you go--instant awesome!!
That part is like bypassing/activating the FX pedals in a rackmount GCX, you're just simply using a different type of GCX
Cheers and good luck mate!!

Re: Instant Access Mode: Can I assign different CCs per preset?
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the M13's MIDI assignments are not programmable (Line 6 does some things so slick and so well, but their MIDI implementations leave a lot to be desired......), so I think I'm kinda stuck.
BUT...
I had a Glass Half Full moment here....
With the 8 Instant Access buttons, I can access and initialize 8 of the 12 buttons in each M13 preset ("Scene") - this covers banks A and B completely. I figure I could just use bank C for "always on" effects - like I almost always run an EQ in the amp effects loop, regardless of the preset - so I could put that EQ in bank C of all the presets, so it is always there, then use the GCP to initialize effects in banks A and B on a per preset basis. This still gives me a lot of flexibility....
BUT, It would be really really cool if in a future update, Voodoo allowed the GCP to send per-preset programmable MIDI CCs even when in 10 presets/bank mode...hint, hint, hint......Rocktron All Access allows this, but that product is waaaaaayyyy over priced - no way am I gonna pay $1000 for a controller when the $400 I paid for the GCP gets me 90% of the way there....
Thanks
