New Control Switcher question

Post by Trex »

hi there

If i have a control switcher and a GCX audio switcher do i still need to have a loop on the GCX switcher for amp switching or would the control switcher take the place of that loop. in other words i have loop 8 set to switch i amp channel. would this loop become available for another effect. In my mind i see the control switcher responding to midi signals of my ground control pro.

this is my current setup

loop 1 -comp
loop 2 rat
loop 3 turbo rat
loop 4 overdrive
loop 5 line driver
loop 6 pitch
loop 7 eventide delay
loop 8 channel switch

now if i have this would i be able to run multiple amps and channel switching

thanks :)

With a GCX and a Control Switcher, you would hand off channel switching duties to the Control Switcher. Loop 8 on your GCX would then become available to insert another effect.

Assuming you're using a Ground Control Pro and the MIDI chain is hooked up as follows -

GCP ---> GCX ---> Control Switcher

The Ground Control Pro will see the GCX as GCX-1 Loops 1-8 while seeing the Control Switcher as GCX-2 Loops 1-4, with Loops 1-4 corresponding to switches 1-4 on the Control Switcher.

In regards to being able to channel switch multiple amps, the Control Switcher has 4 independent switches on it so you could dedicate one of them to channel switch one amp while dedicating the others to channel switch other amps. Without some more information I couldn't tell you how to patch or switch the audio to multiple amps depending on which you're trying to do.
