Expression Pedal sending Value 127 on activation

Post by hogan666 »

Hi

I got a "special" Problem & I'm not exactly sure which unit is doing the failure.

I got a Boss GT Pro which is connected to the Ground Control (DMC. Software 1.11).
The Boss FV500 is connect to the expression Port of the Ground Control.

My Problem is, if I switch on the PedalBend/Whammy on the Boss (I'm in 4 Preset Mode), the start value of the pedal controller is 127, which means the guitar sounds instantly pitched, which is annoying sometimes. So I have to tap the Button and hurry to rock the Exp.Pedal back, to not have that pitch up sound in the beginning.

Is there anything in the menu, where I can save the start value of the expression pedal?

--

Putting the Exp.Pedal directly into the Boss works. It reads the actual value of the pedal when switching the pedalbend on.

With the Behringer FCB1010 it also works nice, so I think it has to do with the Ground Control.

Thanks, Markus.

P.S.: I can't use the search, because "expression" is too common for the search engine of the board.

The Ground Control Pro actually does not send any Control Change message regarding the current position of the Expression Pedals upon preset load. No Expression Pedal Control Change messages are sent until the Expression Pedal is moved. I believe that you should be able to see this for yourself by disabling the pedals and recalling the preset on the GT Pro... I would bet that it will load with the pitch "turned up".

Is it possible to save the GT Pro preset with the pitch set to 0?

Hi John,
sure you can load the preset on the Boss with the pitch up or zero. I checked that the preset was set to zero. But if the Ground Control doesn't send a CC until I move the pedal it's sure an issue with the Boss.

Maybe I've assigned something wrong in the Boss when activating the Pedalbend Block via one instant access button to also send a CC127 for pedal position (you have around 10 assign slots to control every single thing which sometimes doesn't make it clearer when you edit the unit without having a software editor by the hand).

(I hate to translate german to crappy english. *haha*) Hope you understand what I mean.

To sum it down... your answer made it a lot clearer to me finding the failure. :)

Thanks for the great support! Really appreciate your help finding the failure.

Thanks, Markus

Trust me, your English is WAAAYYY better than anything resembling German from me... at the last Musik Messe I had some brief lessons but they mainly consisted of vulgar words and my determination to know how to actually say "Your pig has a lovely briefcase." It went something like this... "Dine schwein... mumble mumble (everyone starts laughing at me) mumble mumble" (...laughter continues) ;)

Haha, this put a smile on my face. ;)
It's hard if you translate your daily phrases to another language & not sound like a fool.

If I could help you out translating something into german language,
drop me a line.

Have a good time, Markus.
