GCX/GCP Mark IV channel switching issue

Post by so_rockstar »

I've got everything hooked up and sounding great using the above gear, and also a couple stomp boxes and a G-Force, but am having some issues with the channel switching. There is a very audible delay when going to or from the Lead channel, which is currently in Loop 4. I've tried switching cables, and putting it in other loops. The results are way too unorganized in my mind to describe, as it works in some loops, not in others, works when I program the GCP to switch to the lead channel but not switch patches on the GForce....I'm not sure what to make of this.

Just wondering if this is a common issue, and if there are any suggestions.
The delay is comparable to an example I heard on another forum that was calculated to about 90 ms (if that helps)

Thank you!

Does this only happen when you are also switching to a new G-Force patch?

Yes it seems to be. I didn't have that problem with the last fx unit. Guess I'll have to look into programming patches a little more.

I'll hazard the guess that it is not the amp channel switching that is slow at all, but rather the load time of the G-Force patches that is causing the problem you are experiencing.
You can reduce the patch load time of G-Force patches if you disable all unused effects blocks from each patch. Another thing people do is to load a single G-Force patch with all the effects blocks enabled and use Ground Control Pro Instant Access buttons to select the bypass state of each effect block by programming the state of the Instant Access buttons into the Ground Control Pro presets.

I hope that helps!
