GCP - is it transportable from one rig to the next?

Post by mpovoden »

Hello...

If I have several MIDI based rigs, can my GCP be unplugged from one rig and plugged into another rig with an entirely different mapping of settings? I guess what I'm asking is - is the brain inherent to the GCP or the device it's connected to?

I am using it primarily with my Axe-FX based rig. I want to use it with my VH4S and my Hagen as well, do I have the ability to have a mapping of settings for each rig? Or does the GCP just get all mucked up when going from one platform to the next...?

Thank you,
M.

There should be no reason you couldn't swap the Ground Control Pro between different rigs unless you have more presets than the mode you are in will allow. You can name each of the devices you will be using within the Ground Control Pro and set the presets to only send to the device(s) you will be using in any particular rig. This would allow you to have different banks of preset on the Ground Control pro that are set up to control the different rigs.

If you are switching between rigs that are quite complex, you can do a memory dump from a Ground Control Pro programmed to control a specific rig and load the backup that matches the rig you will be using.
