Re: GCP MIDI mapping GCX1-GCX2-3rd
Do let us know how this works out. I'm always interested in learning new things, especially with regard to different and/or unusual applications.
For Sale: Original DMC GCX in Excellent Condition ($275) and a far more versatile SoundSculpture GL also in Excellent Condition ($1750). Free CONUS Shipping.

Yea, I too wasn't sure you knew that you could name the Xpression as a device. Here are some basic tips to follow if you want to try controlling it using the GCX numbers...
1. Do not name the Xpression as a device, and don't assign any named device to MIDI Channel 16.
2. Route the MIDI Out of the last GCX you use to the MIDI In of the Xpression.
3. In Setup Mode on the Ground Control Pro, enable the GCX # that you want to use to control the Xpression.
4. Set the Expression to respond on MIDI Channel 16 and set the effects/parameters you want to control to the Controller numbers for the GCX # you chose.
Here are the Controller numbers for the additional GCX #s
GCX #2
Normal (Latching) = 88-95 / Momentary = 112-119
GCX #3
Normal (Latching) = 64-71 / Momentary = 96-103
GCX #4
Normal (Latching) = 56-63 / Momentary = 72-79
You will likely just leave the Xpression set on one single numbered patch that has all the effects you will use enabled. Then the Ground Control Pro will control the individual effects within that patch as if they were pedals in a GCX. This is sometimes referred to as using a processor in "stompbox mode" or as a "virtual pedalboard" on various gear forums.
Good Luck!
