Connecting GCX to Samson SM10 for parallel mixing in W/D/W rig

Post by Gr8fulPickr »

I just picked up a Bray Line Out Box and a Samson SM10 for the rack I am building, but struggling with the signal flow. I'm waiting for Voodoo Lab to send me the stereo upgrade mod for one of my GCX's.

As I understand it, I will take the dry signal from my last loop of dry pedals and run that to my preamp. Then I will put the Bray Line Out Box between my preamp and power amp. But where do I run that line out to? Back to the beginning of my wet effects in the GCX or to the Samson SM10?

My wet effects are in loops as follows:

MXR Carbon Copy
ADA 2FX (this is a rack unit that I assume needs a line level signal) - mono
Belle Epoch Deluxe
Eventide H9 - stereo in/out
Strymon Deco - stereo in via trs cable / stereo out

I'd like to be able to mix these effects in parallel, though I'd also like to have the Deco as last in series so it gives that tape saturation sound to the prior wet effects.

I'm just not entirely sure how the wet effects in the GCX talk to the line mixer or how to wire all this part up. Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
The bray line out box goes between your dry amp and the speaker, it uses the speaker cable. The line out from that goes to your wet effects then your power amps.

It al depends on what effects you want series or parallel? If you want parallel effect, you’ll need to split the signal.

So yes, it goes to the loop of the GCX that has your wet effects.

With the mixer, if running parallel, you can go from your wet effects straight to the mixer instead of going back to the GCX so you keep your trails.

With your mixer also, it has effects sends, so you can also send the signal from the Bray line out box to a line in on the Mixer. This line in will be the only one you set the effects send to more than zero. Then you can use the effects out, which it has 2 of, to your wet effects. Because it has 2 effects sends, you can have it sent to either side of the stereo effects or have 2 diff end sets of effects.

If you are running in series then the mixer really isn’t necessary.

Hope this gives you some help
GCPro, GCX, Pedal Power 2+, Pedal Power AC.
And some other stuff.
