New to Midi, please help!

Post by robbydanger »

Hi everyone,

I've just changed over from stomp boxes to Rack fx. I've just got a ground control pro and a tc electronic G Major 2......only problem is that I can't get the GCP to send the program changes to the G Major.

I've looked through the paperwork but I can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Is there a special kind of Midi cable I need? Is there some settings for the GCP that I can't find that I can't figure out?

I bought my GCP off eBay and it's running firmware 1.02....not sure if that could have something to do with it?

Thanks

You need to make sure you have the GCP device setup to transmit on the same midi channel that the G Major is set to receive on. As long as you have any external power supply on the GCP, you don't need anything other than a normal 5 pin midi cable.

Try doing a factory reset on the GCPro and set the GMajor to receive on channel 1.

GCPro midi out to GMajor midi in

Change presets on the GCPro (they should all say INIT)

That should work and you can make changes from there.
