Hey all! I just picked up a GCX and Ground Control Pro. I'm sure I'll probably be asking more questions about signal path and compatibility with different pedals but my first questions is related to my Line 6 Verbzilla (Shimmer).
I'm wondering if you can have the Verbzilla in one of the loops on the GCX and use an expression pedal (thru one of the Expression Pedal inputs on the GC Pro) and control the wet/dry mix of the Verbzilla? I would love to be able to control how much shimmer is present on the fly. Let me know if that's possible.
Thanks!

Ground Control Pro/GCX + Verbzilla?
Re: Ground Control Pro/GCX + Verbzilla?
You cannot control the Verbzilla controls remotely this way because it is not MIDI controllable. The Expression Pedal ports simply convert the pedal movement to MIDI data.
Good Luck!

Re: Ground Control Pro/GCX + Verbzilla?
Thanks for the tip, John! So would the best work-around be to route a separate expression pedal back onto my board and put the combo of the Verbzilla and the expression pedal into their own loop?
Thanks!

I don't see any way to remotely control the wet/dry mix on the Verbzilla. Is what you have not one of the Tone Core pedals?

Re: Ground Control Pro/GCX + Verbzilla?
It is one of their Tone Core Pedals, actually:

And regarding my initial "wet/dry" question...Maybe I should clarify. I'm not wanting the expression pedal to essentially turn a knob on the stompbox. I'm looking for it to add varying degrees of shimmer to my overall signal. The settings on the Verbzilla would go relatively untouched much like a distortion or overdrive pedal. I would use the expression pedal just like a volume but instead of controlling how loud or quiet my signal is, it would control how much shimmer is present on my signal at any given time. Hopefully that makes sense.
Thanks again for your help!

Re: Ground Control Pro/GCX + Verbzilla?
If this pedal is in a series signal path then a volume pedal in line with it will still only control overall volume. Is this pedal running in series or is it routed in parallel through a mixer or parallel effects loop?

Re: Ground Control Pro/GCX + Verbzilla?
Hi John! Truth be told, I'm really looking for the best way to route it at this point so I don't have it in series or parallel yet. Currently I have the Verbzilla and a separate volume pedal split into their own loop on my pedalboard. Would a MIDI controllable unit like the Eventide Space (since it's MIDI capable) be a better option coupled with the GCX than trying to figure this solution out?
I found a good example of what I mean by controlling the amount of shimmer present on the signal thru an expression pedal. See the video below (he swells in the shimmer at around 1:26):

That brings me to a 2nd question... If I have an expression pedal and a latching tap tempo switch plugged into the GC Pro (input's 1 & 2), would they only be assignable to one unit/loop in the GCX or can I assign them to multiple units? The reason I ask is that I'll be using a couple (maybe more) MIDI capable pedals like a Digitech Whammy 4 and an Eventide Time Factor (possibly the Eventide Space as well) that all have MIDI in's & thru's and have aspects that can be controlled with an expression pedal.
Thanks again for your help!

Re: Ground Control Pro/GCX + Verbzilla?
What you are referring to as shimmer would be controlling the wet/dry mix. Because the Verbzilla has no provision for remotely controlling the wet/dry mix, it would have to be routed in parallel in order to be able to get what you are after. Something like the Space would not need the same attention because it is directly MIDI controllable.
Both the device and the parameter to be controlled by the Expression Pedal ports are assigned at each Ground Control Pro preset. You can absolutely have the expression pedals perform a different task at each preset if you wanted to.
I hope that helps!
