It should work to recall presets right out of the box.

What exactly do you want to have access to on the AxeFX?

Alternatively, if you haven't checked, the Fractal Forum has a quite active community with many users that have direct knowledge using the Ground Control Pro with all versions of the AxeFX.

I have exactly the same issue. I have a GCP and a Fractal Axe FXiii but cannot get the two to communicate at all. All I want to do is select the various presets on the Fractal and operate the tuner (not exactly 'rocket science'). It must be possible but Lord knows how ha ha

Right out of the box, the Ground Control Pro will send MIDI Program Changes on MIDI Channel 1. I suppose to start you will want to be sure your AxeFX III is set to respond to messages MIDI Channel 1.

MIDI Connection should only be one MIDI Cable from the Ground Control Pro MIDI Out to the AxeFX III MIDI In.
